NAPD instructors offer two forms of the main diver course. The first version is 80-hours long and is designed for law enforcement and government agencies that require these hours for certification and training. The second version is 40+ hours long and is designed for recovery dive teams such as fire, military, government, and other public safety dive teams. The purpose of both of these programs is to train and certify individuals as NAPD divers. The diver will be trained and certified in basic search and recovery, search patterns, line signals, equipment configuration, basic crime scene investigation and preservation, vehicle extrication, inspections of boat hulls, bridge, piers, docks and dive team management.
